Service · Database migration
Move to a new database without losing a number.
Oracle, SQL Server, Azure and AWS. We plan the move, clean and map the data, rehearse it, and prove the new system matches the old one before anything is switched off.
Sounds familiar?
Why teams call us about a migration.
“Our Oracle licence renewal is coming, and we can’t justify it.”
“Everything runs on a SQL Server nobody wants to touch.”
“We’re moving to the cloud, but nobody trusts the data to arrive intact.”
When it’s time to move
The usual reasons.
- Licensing and support costs that keep rising for a database you mostly just keep alive.
- End of support for the version you run, with security and compliance exposure.
- Moving to Azure or AWS, whether lifting as-is or moving to a managed service.
- A new ERP or application that needs your history loaded cleanly.
- Several databases doing one job, consolidated into one source of truth.
Platforms: Oracle Database, SQL Server, Azure and AWS, including moves between them, such as Oracle to SQL Server, or on-premises to Azure or AWS.
What you receive
A move you can check.
- A migration plan and cutover runbook
- Source-to-target field mapping
- Test-run results, with issues found and fixed
- A reconciliation report, signed off before the old system is retired
- Handover documentation for your team or IT provider
The step most migrations skip: proving the numbers match. We reconcile record counts, balances and key reports between old and new, and you sign off before anything is switched off.
How we do it
Six steps, in order.
We work alongside your IT team or provider on access and infrastructure, or lead the technical work directly when you don’t have one.
Assess
Inventory the tables, reports, integrations and jobs that touch the database, so nothing is discovered on cutover night.
Map
Source-to-target mapping for every field, with agreed definitions where the old and new systems disagree.
Clean
Fix duplicates, bad formats and orphaned records before they move, not after.
Rehearse
Test migrations on copies of the data: timed, checked and repeated until they run clean.
Cut over
A planned switch with a written runbook, a go/no-go decision and a rollback path.
Reconcile
Record counts, balances and key reports compared between old and new, and signed off before the old system is retired.
